Specific Insurance Info

Dr. Gordon is usually out-of-network for most insurance companies. As such, you (not your insurance company) are responsible for full payment of the fees. If you plan to file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement of services, most likely it will be reimbursed at an out-of-network rate. It is your responsibility to determine whether your policy provides you with the appropriate coverage. Upon request, Dr. Gordon will provide you with receipts for all services rendered showing procedure codes and diagnostic codes. At times, insurance companies require a short treatment update to continue receiving benefits. Dr. Gordon will fill these forms out and file them at no additional charge unless they take excessive time to complete. If this occurs, Dr. Gordon will discuss individually with you the fee for completing the paperwork, before doing it. Typically, the fee would be a pro-rated charge of their counseling rate.

It is important to be aware that filing insurance claims for mental health services coverage may affect your ability to purchase medical, life, or disability insurance currently or in the future. If you file with your insurance company, they may request additional clinical information such as treatment plans or summaries, or copies of the entire record (in rare cases). This information will become part of the insurance company files and will probably be stored in a computer. Though all insurance companies claim to keep such information confidential, CrossRoads and your therapist have no control over information provided to a third party. Using your health insurance for psychotherapy and assessment also greatly reduces your flexibility in terms of choosing service providers and receiving the type of treatment and number of sessions needed for your situation. If you do plan to use insurance, please make sure you understand the extent of your benefits and discuss them with your therapist. This will allow the two of you to set realistic treatment goals based on what the insurance company allows regarding frequency and length of treatment.
